Oh, and by the way... NOT a mosque

This is truly embarrassing. We were driving past this (see the photo) beautiful building, and mother said it was a mosque. Are you sure?- I asked- It is too huge somehow? and elaborate? and bang in the middle of Brighton? How would that be possible?

-Sure!- mother said- Look at the minarets! So many!

Got home, told husband that the mosque looked amazing. You can imagine the rest.

So no, this is not a mosque. Not that I would know that, being an architect and all that.

  1. Wow, the minarets really look nice. It's a nice mosque indeed :P

  2. It really looks like a mosque but, as you say, how come it get to the middle of Brighton?

  3. From the wikipedia article about the same, it says it was built in the Indo-Saracenic style which indicates to me that it has a heavy muslim influence. So your mistake seems reasonable.

  4. If it's a palace, it sure is a palace of Turkish sultans LOL :-) It's big because of its splendid Harem where sultans kept their numerous wives.
